SYLLABUS

PART ONE – The Audition Process.

A faux audition where the actors will be given sides, sign in, and then audition for the director, then a discussion of what was done good, bad, and indifferent.

Sides will not be provided beforehand.

This is a study of the audition process, both for the actor and the director/producer. Watching the audition tapes and making use of a directors perspective is intended to empower the actors when auditioning for real.

PART TWO – Actor/Director Game

A simple acting game where the participants will be paired off and work on a simple open scene and performed and directed.

Working with an "open" scene, the actors are to not deviate from the script at all, yet create different scenarios and even genres from the lines.

PART THREE – Scene Study

Actors will be given a specific scene and it will be worked on by the actors and the director. Sometimes in groups of three or pairs, the actors will work on a scene, then perform it for the director and be given directon on how to change and tweak with subtle changes to performance.

Acting for the camera is very different than acting on stage, so the focus on the more realistic and still diverse performances will be essential.
